There is some perspective shift from tilting so I have avoided trying to stabilize as of yet.

If you're able to stabilize the footage to the face, wouldn't it work to pre compose the stabilized shot, do your distortion on the precomp, and then apply the reverse of the stabilize to the distorted footage in another precomp to bring back the camera motion?
