We just finished a subcontract show for a client that had to be done in CS3 to stay even with them. At least we got them away from Tinderbox 1, which they were using last year.
Only a few years ago we showed up at a major film director's edit suite, and they're cutting on an Avid so old it didn't have a CD-ROM drive, just a floppy. "It's paid for" was the answer.
OTOH, I think the big driver for the change is to make corporate budgeting easier.
