them as PDF w/o the ads so I may read them when not near WiFi?

To answer your question, there is not a way to do it numerically; you have
to double-click the path to get the Free Transform box and move it.

To answer your problem, here's how to paste paths from Illustrator to AE
shape layers and have them maintain their relative positions:
