A few things I'd suggest:  

Use Levels set to alpha, and play with the alpha gamma or setup.

I often now use two instances of Keylight, or one instance of Color Key followed by Keylight.  The first instance is a garbage pass:  set the controls so that you have a small ring of green around your object to be keyed.  Follow that with Keylight, and then you only have to fix a small area.

Or, use your Intermediate Result, followed by another instance of Keylight to work on your edges.  That's how Intermediate Result is intended to be used.
