I have no problem pasting multiple paths maintaining their relationships.
It's doing that AND getting their anchor points centered that frustrates
me. I think the current work around solution is to paste one by one (to get
perfect anchor point centering), and then moving the shapes back to the
desired postion.
here is an example of where i pasted gear shapes from AI, but get an anchor
point off centered:
