we're trying to make a database of all the clips we have on XDCAM disks -
both camera original as well as AE/AVID/FCP generated material.

It needs to be free, accessible from a web browser, fairly simple and
doesn't need to accommodate media at this point - that is, it will be just
text and no thumbnails.

I've never worked with databases/spreadsheets before.

I don't really know the implications down the line when one uses a
database as opposed to a spreadsheet.

Filemaker seems like a good thing to learn, but might be too deep (and
expensive) for these simple purposes
