I was so very sad to hear about Richard's sudden passing at such a young age. He was a brilliant, inspiring man who gave so much of his time, enthusiasm and knowledge freely to so many people - for that he'll always be remembered fondly.
His technical expertise was pretty astounding and could have been quite intimidating if he had not been able to deliver and share it in such an open and straightforward way. Richard was always so generous, he helped shape and develop the industry and community that we're all a part of today.
He will be sadly missed by many. My thoughts go out to his friends & family.

Together we co-founded the original New York After Effects User Group, where every week he presented--for free-- a trade-show quality demo about a feature, technique, or new piece of hardware that he had discovered. And as many of you know, Richard would always stop what he was doing to help find an answer to any technological problem you presented him. He was a brilliant mind, a talented designer, a gifted musician, and a very good friend.
