Now I = don't want to start a flame war here guys, but...

/FLAME = ON

nah not going to really rant. I'm just amazed at the PC-phobic = listers and smacking my head against a brick reading these = responses.

For real 3D (and I would argue 2d) motion graphics professionals, = PCs are the industry standard in my experience, working freelance in new = york, at large and small post houses alike. In fact the larger the = company is, the more probable it is they are running pcs. I've never = seen a 500-mac render farm. yet. The only reason I own a macbook pro is = for FCP. and I keep windows on it. That's it.

The only thing macs have going for them (or did)

- = industry-wide use of FCP 7.0
- I honestly can't think of any other = reason. decent product design? better virus = protection?

PCs:

- order of magnitude cheaper. I could = stop here.
- easier to service
- easier to upgrade
- easier to modify = hardware
- more software available
- easier to modify = software
- cheaper to upgrade
- (more) open platform for = development
- can overclock
- problems easier to fix (many of you will disagree, but the worst = crashes I've ever experienced, with 100% data loss, have been = macs)

Especially for 3D, where performance vs. cost and = serviceability is a huge issue, there's no contest. I don't know how = apple brainwashes people into buying a computer for a 200% markup over a = PC with better specs. Besides, as a freelancer, I like to be able to get = in there and know how my system works, take it apart blindfolded, add in = a new motherboard, etc. If anything goes wrong I don't have to take a = number online to a "genius". Don't even get me started...

/FLAME OFF

That having been said they make the best laptops = in the industry, for design, ruggedness and battery life. Just don't be = fooled into thinking the desktops are truly competitive. It's also clear = where the companies priorities lie, and it's not with us. it's with = phones and ipads

So now I have 2 packages.

Our = serial numbers are not Host Application or OS specific, simply make sure = you are using the correct installer for your OS and that the host app = you wish to install for is properly selected during = installation.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any further = questions.

And with genarts you just uninstall/deactivate and just reactivate on = the new system/OS

I use LW for 3d and that is also cross = platform.

So only adobe was the real problem for me.  The other reason to go = PC is that I am using Fusion a lot = more.
