I'd bet there will be another Mac Pro at some point.  As the article points out, there was a 2-year gap before the previous rev, and even Apple's beloved iPhone wasn't refreshed for 15 months between the iPhone 4 and 4S.  So 18 months probably isn't enough to say there will never be another one, but it does show you that it is not their focus.

I was just in the downtown San Francisco Apple store and probably the clearest sign of where the Mac Pro stands is the fact that there was just one on display in the whole store.  The poor thing only had one CPU (4 cores) and 3GB of RAM, which is the minimum configuration.  Clearly they're not trying too hard to show that product off.

Then again, it was sitting unused compared to the hoards lined up to play with iPads.  So maybe you can't blame Apple for making this decision, but maybe it would be wise for the people on this list to not invest in the platform any more.  And I say this as a pretty devoted Apple fanboy.

Think what happened to anyone who continued to invest in Shake after Apple bought it.  How did that work out?  Around 1998 the pro market was the only market Apple still had, but now they dominate the vast consumer market and they ain't looking back.
