Great post, Carey. This is a subject I've been following with great interest. I run a small shop in Toronto, and without going too far into detail - without buying very much - we spent about $19K on Apple pro products alone, another $6K or so in memory, accessories, etc., for our Mac Pros, and I won't even get into software, cables, other junk we need to connect up all of the toys. This was a building year, so we might be ok for a couple of years with a bunch of what we have (but not all of it), but if Apple drops the pro market altogether it's going to be a terrifying, wildly expensive time. Forget cool new Thunderbolt toys this year - we're sticking with what we have on the computer and peripheral side and staying extra cautious with our cash in the event we need to buy $11K
Z800s.
Sigh.

Yeah, but can you imagine how employees felt when SoftImage got sold to Avid? Their retirement had looked so golden, and now... :-)
