It depends how good your source photography is...
3d reconstruction is very cool, but requires the right type of input imagery.
An easier technique is to model the features of the person you are trying to re-create, then around this model identify camera placements based on pictures you have. Once you have those, use Bodypaint to paint those projections onto the face. If your object can have a self-illuminated (vs shaded) texture, this will hide the lack of detail of your model and give you a very real looking face.
