I’m almost done with getting 4TB up on CrashPlan – about a 7 week undertaking – but so far, so good. Have not done a major restore, but test worked fine. Of course, like any other backup, you can’t rely on a single backup no matter what it is.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

They are very nice little file servers, especially now with Thunderbolt, which addresses their previous main weakness; slow connection to external disks. I have several, and have found them much less temperamental than previous servers we've had, and extremely easy to deploy.

Speaking of data issues, especially in regard to AE projects and Apple hardware, anyone have recent experiences with cloud data services for Time Machine or other incremental backup? I'd like to get our backups completely off-site for all the obvious reasons.

I think it depends on your definition of "decently," and of course, the project. Could you mock up a few quick titles? Sure. Would you be able to render a 1080p project with 5 million+ particles and a mess of 3D layers and depth of field? probably not.

Does AE work decently on a mini?
