So, to anyone interested, I decided on the relatively unknown Asus PA246Q - one of the cheapest "professional" P-IPS monitors with 100% Adobe RGB coverage, 1.07 billion colors, 6 way color control, 0bit displayport, DVI and HDMI. I gotta say its pretty amazing, even without calibrating, especially for the $421 I got it for off ebay. I couldn't justify the additional $1500+ of a dreamcolor or reference monitor, as the eizo I have is already good enough for most of the color jobs I get. If the grading is that intense I tell clients they should rent a da vinci suite anyway. I highly recommend this monitor

My DreamColor 24" works in 10-bit on DisplayPort, and it's NOT limited to
60p.
The only complaint I have is that the scaling of 720p material to fullscreen
is not very good.
So I can choose to watch my 720p50 material pixel-by-pixel with black
borders, or full screen with less than perfect scaling. Letting the NLE (or
rather the Quardro card) scale it on output works OK. But when watching 50p
material at 50Hz refresh rate, I need to output a proper video signal, and
that's when the bad scaling is an issue.
