I believe it grabs the first instance of an item then removes any that follow it. So if your imported items appear at the top of your project window (alphabetically) then they get kept as priority, then any dups after get dumped. At least this is what I've noticed in the past for me. I could also be completely wrong in that too. :)

Hey all!

So - on the film we're working on we're constantly updating comps - and importing aeps inside aeps that have aeps imported. It gets messy super fast.

We always grab the elements we want - reduce project and consolidate. Problem is ae seems to delete the original dupes and leave the imported versions - I'd rather have it the other way around.

What is the logic AE uses to consolidate and pick which of the dupes to delete?

A few of us have been searching but even Chris and Trish don't mention the logic here http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/cmg_keyframes/story/cmg_hidden_gems_chapter_43_advanced_rendering

They probably do in their book! But I left it at home in Vegas and I'm in LA now.

Anybody know?

Thanks!
