I haven't searched, but I'd love a script that could search for duplicate imports and automatically 'replace footage' so there's only one of each in the project.
I'm often in a situation like jayse, where projects are imported into other projects and duplicates build up...
Afaik, 'consolidate footage' copies all used footage to one folder. I don't want to move footage files, just make the project less cluttered.
Anyone know if something like that exists?
Sent from my iPhone Thanks guys! Jim I was talking more about the 'consolidate all footage' command. But that's good info and is similar to how I work as well! I think David's answer may be the solution - I'll try that out!
Appreciate the input!

When you Reduce Project, you select the Comps (or folder) you want to retain.
I make a folder where I put all the Comps I want to keep. Often, I'll pre-render and use the pre-renders, but I want to hang onto the Comp I used for the Pre-Render.
So at the top of my project window, I have a folder for "keepers." Inside that are my master Comps folder, and my pre-comps folder. Then, when I reduce, I select the top level folder, and proceed.
I put some spaces at the beginning of my "keeper folder," so it'll always go to the top of the Project Panel when I set it to sort in ascending order.
