In my opinion, Lions appears more dumbed down and has many features taken from iOS that don't work very well on a desktop
BINGO! It truly was built for a consumer and not a pro. They put a bunch of safety nets to protect people from losing work, but it honestly just gets in the way and doesn't help at all. There are a bunch of small annoyances that have been implemented that bug the hell out of me. Simple things like not being able to see the remaining space on your disk in a finder window anymore. Gotta do a get info to see it now. Gonna stop myself here before falling down that rabbit hole.

The only other thing I've noticed with AE is that the expression panel trips out too. It won't scroll to the bottom or top if your whole expression isn't showing to begin with when entering the edit area, but I'm pretty sure this isn't a Lion related thing.

Oh, that's why AE keeps crashing on startup. I run Lion on a Mac Pro, and AE crashes on startup every once in a while, but couldn't figure out why. In my opinion, Lions appears more dumbed down and has many features taken from iOS that don't work very well on a desktop. But, as for using Adobe apps, I didn't experience any other issues except for apps crashing on startup.

Don't get me started on vocalizing the hatred I have for Lion in general right now. I regret not just staying put with my beloved Snow Leopard 10.6.8. SO MUCH FASTER AND RESPONSIVE. In my experience at least. As far as Adobe and Lion goes, AE has operated about the same for me. I've had Media Core failing on launch a few times due to the "saved state" function of Lion, but deleting the actual saved state resolves it. I'm saddened that the saved state is not an optional feature, it just is the new way of operating with Lion now. Photoshop has run decently, but i haven't really pushed it at all. Haven't touched the other Adobe apps in Lion yet. Overall, I've watched my MacBook Pro drop about 50% in speed and usefulness because of the update. 10.7.2 didn't help any either. 10.7.3 is around the corner and my fingers are crossed that I can hopefully gain back my once beloved machine from it's coma.

Due to my policy of not upgrading to an OS.0 release, I've held off on upgrading my main systems to 10.7.x.

I have heard scant few reports of CS, or rather third-party plugs, not working with 10.7 that were working fine under 10.6.8.

Most the bad has been about audio plug-ins, not necessarily Ae plug-ins. But, to be honest, up until lately, I've turned a deaf ear to any news about 10.7.

I'm considering upgrading my Media Composer to 6, due to an upcoming job on MC, where 10.7 is recommended.

And now that FCPX has FCP7 import (via a third party utility by Intelligent Assistance), I'm considering giving FCPX a test drive as well.

But, my main NLE is now Pr, and I will continue to rely heavily on Ae, Ai, and other CS components for the bulk of my work. I have a slew of plug-ins for Ae. A slew, I tells ya'.

So... I was hoping to get some good/bad reports on whether this is a good time to make the jump to 10.7.2. I don't really want to run a dual boot system. I like to make a commitment and stick with it.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Jim C.
