Regarding the specific issue of After Effects on PowerPC computers:

Apple moved to Intel chips and away from their PowerPC architecture in 2006. We shipped a version of After Effects (CS3) a year later that was for the PowerPC architecture. So, we created new software to work on the platform for at least as long as Apple stuck with the platform.

Then, in 2008, we shipped a big bug-fix update for CS3, continuing to make fixes for this abandoned architecture. I recall one of the senior engineers saying specifically that this update was crucial because we needed to make sure that the PowerPC users had a stable application in CS3, because we wouldn't be able to make a new version for this now-obsolete architecture.

We can't create new versions of After Effects for every previous architecture of personal computer. But we did (and do) try to make sure that if you have an older computer, you'll be able to keep using your software on it for as long as possible.

If you have complaints about Flash Player, I can't help you there. This is an After Effects list, and I only know the inner workings of the After Effects and Premiere Pro teams and products.
