| The problem with the browser is no one makes them for PPC anymore. This may not be an issue for you yet but about a year ago gmail broke on the PPC mac mini I gave my mum, in the end I had to buy leopard to get a recent version of safari which fixed the problem, that version of safari is out of date, can't be upgraded and there are no firefox or chrome options.
Sooner or later an upgrade to gmail, hotmail, fb etc will render her computer obsolete, even though it's in perfect working order, as I said earlier it's ironic that I can still get a browser for the windows 2000 pc the mac mini replaced. In this regard PC's have always had a great deal more longevity than macs, although as others have stated if you get six or seven years out of your computer regardless of platform you're probably doing okay.

I've had no problems with my ppc browser.
Once again, for 99% of the population, the needs of the family has priority over spending thousands for new hardware to watch Flash movs on the web.
If you want video to be seen by everybody, Flash is best avoided.

if Joe had a 6-7 year old PC he'd have no problems installing the latest version of flash.
