Just tested render to hdd vs. render to solid state disk, there was no change in speed on my system. And actually render to SSD was two seconds slower. interesting. Likewise I noticed no difference in speed between .tiff sequence, .avi or .mov outputs. I have the i7 3930K overclocked to 4.7 GHz with 32 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz. The Cinebench64x score with HT on was actually 13.45. It's pretty amazing it's even comparable to dual xeon 5650s. I spent about $2300 shipped.

given the file sizes, disc I/O can play a part here if you make frames fast. pretty impressive speed on that i7 though... what did you say your box cost ?

If you post a processor that has/uses a turbo mode, indicate the turbo mode frequency.
I think I am memory limited for AE.

Hey, to any who are interested I just came up with a small CS5.5 benchmarking project, using new fancy camera and light falloff / shadows etc... www.teddygage.com/AEBENCH55/
My machine rendered this in 2 minutes 55 seconds I'd love to hear other scores. Should work on both mac and PC -TG On Mon, Feb 20, 2012 at 2:10 PM, Teddy Gage <teddygage@gmail.com> wrote:
I've been poking around - can't find any good CS 5.5 or even CS5 AE benchmarks. Anyone got a good one? I may just make a quick project. And I'm a maya user, don't have C4D. But if anyone wants to post a project I'd be happy to post the results. For the relative benchmarks here are my cinebench scores:
OpenGL - 62.24 FPS CPU (hyperthreading off) 11.00 pts (12.93 HT on) CPU (single core) 1.86 pts MP ratio 5.90x For reference, an 8 core xeon @3.33 GHz gets 1.20 single-cpu score
