Oh, sorry about that, it's 150º F. Granted, this is on a new mac pro (less than 8 months old), and they may be designed to run at these temps for a long time but it was surprising just how much the internal temps would drop by a simple change of 500-800 rpm in the fans. I don't have it crammed full of video cards or any I/O cards either so these temps are probably low compared to a full machine.

Dust maintenance and airflow are really important, especially for a mac pro. I've worked at a lot of studios where they've never been opened up and cleaned for years...

I noticed in my office that when rendering, especially 3D, the inside temps on the CPU's (Mac Pro 12 core) would get well into the 150's. After turning up the fan speed just a tad, it brought it down about 30 degrees. I'm not saying that the heat is the only reason for the KP's but I'd definitely want to know how hot the machine was getting, especially if the AC wasn't running. Maybe you could kick the fans up at night to offset the warmer room?
