after I stabilize 1080p H.264 footage in AE CS 5.5, my saves take 5-10
times longer than if I don't apply stabilization. Even just one 30 second
clip, introduces ungodly long save times.

IS there something I can change so that this won't happen ? Is there
something I am doing wrong ? Anyone have any workarounds ?

Really hard to break the habit I've gotten into of saving so often.
