Thanks everyone for the tips. I think the best way will be to pre
comp the video, make 3D, create various duplicates with different mask
shapes and the slightly move them forward or backwards in the Z plane.
I need to animate each one to make them form the image at the end of
the animation. I thought maybe ther e was a plugin or script to make
this easier and faster.

You can do this with projective camera mapping. DigiEffects sells a camera
mapper as part of their Buena Depth Cue product:
