If you have Sapphire, their S_ZBlur and S_ZDefocus will do the trick.

I just noticed something in the stock Compound Blur effect I don't like. It does not do the grow bounds trick that Fast Blur does to prevent the edge of the footage darkening and bleeding to the edge of frame.

Is there an alternative Compound Blur that works like it should, or a combination of effects to achieve this with a workaround?
