| Because it likes to be sure! :) Although we have this listed as something to be addressed in a different way (ie. to be less annoying), the reason the dialog comes up at the moment even after saving is to give you the opportunity to clear the render cache on exit. If you just saved and quit without this dialog it would automatically keep the cached files for the project.
