You might look at FLOW from Editshare http://www.editshare.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=61&Itemid=91 -- automatically tracks media assets from ingest to archive, makes proxies, etc. If your needs are more just viewing, plus humbnails, ResourceSpace http://www.resourcespace.org/ should also work for you.
