Are you on Mac or PC?

If on Mac open a new Finder window, go to main folder containing all your footage. Do search for mp4 and constrain search to just that folder. Select all files and just drag them into AE project window.

If on PC, unfortunately I can't help you there. Sorry.

Tried both methods you describe, Teddy. Unsuccessful with the XDCAM EX folder structure unique to this camera. So it looks like copy/paste is the way to go for now.

Thanks,

Just import the whole root folder, ae will grab all the video files. or do "import multiple items"

I just found something very annoying about Ae, compared to Pr—the import windows are different.

Sony XDCAM EX (Sony PMW-F3 camera) data structure embeds each .mp4 file inside a metadata folder unique to each clip. Contrast to P2 MXF data where all video files reside in a ..CONTENTS\VIDEO folder and can be imported as a group.

Importing to  Pr, the workaround to having to go into each clip’s personal folder is that I can navigate to the root level folder [BPAV], then type “.mp4” in the import window’s SEARCH box, and all .mp4 files will show as a group and I can then group import them. I just discovered that After Effect’s Import window does not have a SEARCH box.  I’m not particularly fond of having to import one video clip at a time!

Are there any known workarounds to this?

Thanks,

John

Obviously, this should be a feature request.
