Freeform is a great-plugin in worth every penny and I’ve specifically used it for waving flags and banners, including a full VFX live action replacement. Plus, it has so many other uses.  Mac version of Pro is coming.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

Subject: [AE] Flag options in AE CS3

Sure this has been covered a gazzilion times so I apologise if it is trite. I've been searching the web for options for creating a very stylized flag graphic in AE CS3 on a Mac. I do not need realism, just a very ilustritive approximation of a flag motion on a pre-comp.

It seems my options are thus:

upgrade to AE5.5 for $949 to get FreeForm

get Zaxwerks 3DFlag for $199

FreeForm Pro is not available for Mac it seems which is too bad as the mettle products look super cool. FreeFormAE is no longer available from DigiEffects now it is bundled with AE CS5

Are there nay other options available to me that I missed? Is FreeForm worth the extra outlay (aside from the other obvious benefits to CS5.5). There is not a huge budget to this project and the flag element is one of hundreds. Trying to be economical and judicious.

cheers
