Thanks Chris - Stress test for SURE haha. I was making design changes as different needs arose and updating them across all shots is more of a file management task than it should be.

Thanks for your explanation on how it handles changes. That's how I'd expect it to work so it sounds great - and the change in planning can be useful after getting used to it.

Thanks Jayse, I wish we had heard from you earlier, we've been in beta testing for several months and your projects would've been the perfect stress test!

To answer your question, in this instance the imported comp that you modified would be replaced by the comp in the external project. This is really the only "gotcha" to the plug-in, it will involve a change in your pre-production planning. There would be no warning, but you have to confirm that you want to sync the project, and you have the option to save your project as an increment before it does it's sync. At least this way you would have a fall back file in case you needed to go back to the old version.

Thanks again for your support and feedback,

This is HUGE Chris!

We were definitely dreaming of this functionality on the project we just wrapped involving stereo HUDs for a little dude in an iron suit and a huge array of glass screens for a bad ass dude with an eyepatch.

I think I saw your video at the start of that project last year and was drooling. Would have been a MEGA timesaver keeping +43,000 elements up to date across a few hundred shots. So I totally look forward to abusing it in the future!

One question - the question that always arises with instance type things - if we change the animation in the imported comp - then change something in the source comp aep - what happens. Do the links break - or do they overwrite the new animation - is there a warning - etc. ?

For every new issue this may bring up - this will be an extremely welcome time saver!

Thanks for making it!

Hello AE Users,

I'm really excited to announce that our Plug-In,  AE Project Sync will be available  Monday, April 2! If you are unfamiliar with this plug-in, you can read a great review by Craig Whitaker over at Motionworks (http://www.motionworks.com.au/review-project-sync-for-after-effects/ ) and check out an example usage video here :http://vimeo.com/27136137

The concept for the plug-in is simple, you import a project and have the plug-in watch the file for updates, when a new version is saved ( or increment of the file ) then you will be prompted with the option to update to the most recent version automatically. Awesome, right?

We work in After Effects every day, so we've built the plug-in to feel as intuitive as possible to regular users of AE. It should be a natural extension to your workflow.

We've spent a lot of time listening to our beta testers feedback and suggestions, and we are confident that this will change the way that you use After Effects. Feel free to contact us with any questions :info@roetechnologies.com

I hope you find this Plug-In as useful and exciting as we do!
