I just meet NAB timewise in general, not  at NAB, although I would gather Apple would pay some attention to CS6 timing as CS6 purchasers might be tempted to platform switch when CS6 is announced and there is no hint from Apple on new MacPros. But then again, maybe not. But if there is no Apple announcement in the NAB/CS6 window of new MacPros, that probably is sign the platform is going away.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

Perhaps not right at NAB since other than last year's Supermeet, um, "exception" they havent' had a booth there in years.

But if we, say got through the whole 2nd quarter, including WWDC with no announcements or alternatives presented, then that's probably the final answer on the matter.

Why is an announcement at NAB not a good sign?

Yes, if Apple does not announce new MacPro’s at NAB, it’s not a very good sign at all about their future, so a good chance news will be forthcoming since new Intel Xeons have been shipping for a couple of months.
