I started out on Apple IIs, used many Macs over the years. These days my non-profit IMAX is all about the cheapest performance per dollar, so Windows boxes make sense. Hackintosh is little to finicky for a primary machine with an over-clocked Windows machine, if you don't mind tinkering (I enjoy it) gives you the best AE performance per dollar by a long shot. But if I were buying off-the-shelf systems, Mac Pros used to be great boxes - but they are way out of date right now. Plus I prefer to do NLE in Sony Vegas primarily for the audio tools but also just like it's overall workflow and it's Windows only. But I would be disappointed to see Mac Pros fall by the wayside. Personally, as I mentioned offlist to someone, I would love to see Apple spin off the ProApps and Mac Pro lines like a Lexus or Infinity brand to do their own thing. But I think that's unlikely.
