Thanks everyone for the advice! I really wish I could wait until NAB but that is not going to be possible. It was a challenge having them wait for the release of the 5DMkIII vs just purchasing the the 3 year old MkII, but they have been very trusting and patient.  I am already running very close to budget cut off date... I am just hoping that I am still in time. Matter of fact, I am lying in a hospital bed this morning recovering (day 3) from a knee surgery that went... unexpected. Little queezy and the text is blurry but nothing to help one feel better than looking at new computer gear ;) Well, sleep is good too but I know the time is ticking.

I'll echo and reinforce opinions that you try to get the cheapest ATI card and least RAM, then add your own better components. The Quadro 4000 is about $750-800 street, and since it uses a single power connector (and is only 1 slot wide) you have the option of adding a second one later. And more RAM, for sure. I wish I had gotten 48 GB for my 12 core instead of 24.

If you're allowed to buy through the Apple online store, then definitely check their refurbished machines often (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac) - 15% savings is typical. All of our recent machines and monitors have been Apple refurbs, and we're happy.

If you can wait until NAB, I would., as there tends to be announcements there.

Or should I spend the money on RAM?

I would like the system to possible work with Resolve or Adobe's new SpeedGrade (which I do not know that much about).

Of course, I will be running two screens.

Thanks!
