I really do not like working on an iMac. I think they are far to slow for anything but SD video editing. More so, I HATE glossy screens (yep, to each their own). I thought about going back to a Windows platform, but I have not had much luck in the past with Windows. Plus, I would have to switch all my software over. My quote: if you want to work WITH your computer, buy a Mac. If you want to work ON your computer, buy a windows machine. With that said, if Apple doesn't step it up, more people will be switching over to Window's boxes. Anyway... I would skip the iMac... even if that means (gasp) going to Windows.

An iMac doesn't have xeons or a decent graphics card. If you compare apples to Apples (heh), that particular flavor of PCs comes out cheaper. -b On Wed, Apr 11, 2012 at 5:12 PM, Alex Czetwertynski <alex@disciplefilms.com> wrote:
Are high end PC's really cheaper? I just tried pricing a 12core HP with 2.6ghz processors, a decent graphics card, 2TB or HD, and something like 14GB or RAM. I was coming very close to 5k just for the box....And that is without SSD, etc...
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
