I love the iMac, and am disappointed going to an inferior screen and OS
(still). But rendering an edit in Premiere on a PC recently brought a
16-hour render down to 45 minutes using CUDA on an off-the-shelf machine
with a basic GT470 card -- at more than half the price of the iMac.
For me the problem is limiting yourself to CUDA filters, especially when
you want to use noise reduction like RG Denoiser II. It would be great
if Adobe would open the pipeline to 3rd-parties.
Of course, all of this changes somehow very soon, since we're on the verge of CS6, which promises "huge" advances.
