You can run the render nodes in "non-royalty-bearing" mode and not use the MPEG-based codecs, or you can activate with a serial number and use the MPEG-based codecs.

Yes. Absolutely. We've already seen some crazily complex examples. I won't say that we intended people to build entire mobile phones or video monitors from shape layers, but I'm also glad to see that they are. ;-)
