One way of doing it now is docking your precomp timeline below your mastercomp timeline and locking the comp view to the mastercomp.That way you don't even have to click anything to have access to the precomp.

Just watched a tutorial for Ps CS6, and I want Text and Paragraph Styles in Ae.
And I still want Layer Grouping like in Ps, too. Disappointed that won't be in Ae CS6.
