While I'm newcomer to AE I've spent 20 years working in Photoshop and would love to have the layer groups option. As implemented in Photoshop it's a very easy way to organize layers and keep track of what's what within your comp. 

And even more powerful would be the ability to give these layer groups their own mask and blending modes. Now THAT would be cool!
