In reply to my own query, taking on board everyones responses and watching the launch video I have decided to upgrade to CS5.5 standard licence now, get CS6 upgrade free when released and hold out on signing up for the creative cloud.
My reasoning is simply that if you stop paying the monthly subscription at any time you effectively lose everything except your actual data files, and if I happen to have an internet fault at the time the licence is checked online I can't use the software until the fault is fixed. It also makes sense to keep a CS5.5 version available as CS6 will only be backwards compatible to that version apparently.

Best,
Darren

Not sure whether I am grasping the new Adobe upgrade path options fully, can someone explain the benefits of signing up to creative cloud (special intro offer £27.34 a month) where it states that all CS6 apps plus additional cloud based apps can be downloaded and used, as opposed to the CS5 to CS5.5 upgrade offer where they send CS6 as a complimentary upgrade?
If all the apps are available for £27.34 then £46.88 (after first year) a month then surely that is a much more cost effective option working on the basis that there will be a CS upgrade at least once a year?

Best,
Darren
