If I put on my lawyer cap, I'm reading this to say that you qualify for an upgrade to CS6, but you DON'T qualify to skip the current upgrade and try to use it on CS7 or CS8 instead in a couple years.

B

I called Adobe sales to get clarification on the buy CS5.5 now for $399 and get CS6 for free. They confirmed, and mentioned nothing about future limits to updates. I can't imagine sales would neglect to mention this if they wanted avoid a major uproar. Talk about disassembling trust.

Just seems like lawyer speak to me. But hopefully someone will confirm my thinking on this.

Thanks, James

Perhaps Todd can correct me if I’m wrong but the offer for upgrading to 5.5 from 5 for $525 and getting CS6 for free when it’s released meant that you gave up right to future upgrades. Here is the graph from Adobes site with the salient points boldfaced:

Offer expires May 6, 2012, at 11:59pm (PDT). VOID WHERE PROHIBITED, TAXED, OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. Customers who purchase the most current Adobe® Creative Suite® software version, available through the online Adobe Store or Adobe Call Center, from 12am (PDT) on March 26, 2012, through 11:59pm (PDT) on May 6, 2012, will receive a one-time upgrade to the equivalent Adobe Creative Suite 6 product (download version only) at no additional cost when it ships publicly. Offer does not include Acrobat, Flash Catalyst, Flash Builder, Contribute, and OnLocation. Residents of embargoed countries are not eligible. Upgrade codes and/or software will be delivered electronically to the email address associated with the qualifying purchase. Ten days after the ship of Adobe Creative Suite 6 and no later than May 31, 2012, at 11:59pm (PDT), customers will receive an email with instructions and a unique promotional code to receive the one-time upgrade to the equivalent CS6 product. For select countries, customers will receive information in their Creative Suite 5.5 order confirmation email on how to redeem the one-time upgrade to CS6.

Internet access is required to download and install the software upgrade. Offer is not available retroactively and excludes future Creative Suite software version updates. Offer is subject to availability and U.S. export control laws and laws where the recipient resides. Offer may not be assigned, exchanged, sold, transferred, or combined with any other discount or offer, or redeemed for cash or other goods and services. Void where prohibited, taxed, or restricted by law.

It would be great if someone could tell me if I’m reading this correctly. I already made the decision to buy the upgrade to CS6 from CS5 Master Collection for the $1049 price tag since “future upgrades” are not “excluded.”

If I’m wrong I want to see if I can cancel the order and go for the $525 deal.

Anyone?

Not sure whether I am grasping the new Adobe upgrade path options fully, can someone explain the benefits of signing up to creative cloud (special intro offer £27.34 a month) where it states that all CS6 apps plus additional cloud based apps can be downloaded and used, as opposed to the CS5 to CS5.5 upgrade offer where they send CS6 as a complimentary upgrade?
If all the apps are available for £27.34 then £46.88 (after first year) a month then surely that is a much more cost effective option working on the basis that there will be a CS upgrade at least once a year?

Best,
Darren
