Had that before with cubes as well.
When backing the camera off it didn't work till I made everything match isometrically.
Had a project somewhere but can't find.

you can fake one by moving your camera really far away from your subject and then  camera zooming in to where you were before.
It flattens the whole scene to where it looks very orthographic if you are at the "right" 45" angle.
