I don't think the problems have been that substantial. There are usually a few issues with any new release. Some of these might just be hiccups with one person's particular setup.
Even if you're not into the new 3D stuff, there are still several features that would be worth the upgrade all by themselves such as the Global Performance Cache, Camera Tracker, and Variable Mask Feathering.
If I ever have to go back to an old version of AE after using the latest one, the old version always feels surprisingly primitive to me. It can be hard to believe I was perfectly happy with it at one time. I'm sure the same will be true of CS6.
