One of my favorite museums is the museum of moving image in queens.
You can jump around in front of a camera, and they'll make it into a flipbook
for you. Last time I was there, they had a pile of materials, and you could
sit at a computer and make a stop frame animation with them.
They have the historic things as well, and a lot of cool glitz. It's
worth a visit.
