This is something that a number of us have had issues with in the past, so I can sympathise with you on how frustrating it is. Basically it happens when your ISP thinks that these AE list emails are spam, and so it blocks them from you and bounces them back to Rene's server. Because the email to you has bounced back you get an automated warning message.
There are a number of reasons that this can happen and some of them are out of yours and Rene's control. You can check with your ISP to see if they have put Rene's server on a blacklist, but what is probably happening is that the ISP that Rene uses has had a surge of spam come through it, and so your ISP is automatically blocking all emails from it for a set period of time, until the spam levels drop. This is why it happens sporadically.
Apart from checking with your own ISP there's not a lot you can do...

Subject: [AE] Warning message
Can anyone tell me why I receive a warning message every couple of days
saying I will be removed from the AE list if I don't reply? Which I do.
It's just annoying to have to do this so frequently. I've tried contacting
the list administrator (Rene) but I've not heard back.
Thanks,
Robert Leigh
