Check out the "adaptive resolution limit" in the prefs. If you're finding the minimum resolution is too coarse, you can change that here. We did make a lot of changes in this area for CS6, so please keep providing feedback if it's not meeting your needs. It should be better, for the most part.

Hi

Has anything changed regarding the adaptive resolution preview in AE CS6?

I find it lowers the resolution much much faster than CS5 did, so sometimes even on simple masks AE goes to a really low resolution so it is hard to do the masking precisely, something i didn't feel CS5 did as quickly.
If i turns off adaptive resolution i can see AE can update the render fast enough to be "realtime" updating, but somehow AE thinks it can't maintain the update fast enough in adaptive and lowers resolution.
In the prefs file i found this setting: "Dynamic Resolution Cancel Render Time v3"
and tried to set it to the same value as my CS5 had, but i don't think it is as resonsive as CS5 even after this change.

What setting should i change to get a lower treshold of when AE will lower the res in adaptive mode?
