I did that on a mbp - seem= s like the sata for the optical bay is sata2 only (tops out at about 250 MB/= s)
So put the hdd in the optical bay and the ssd in the hdd bay to= get max performance ( it might have changed with the latest revision of the= MBP)

My MacBook Pro just has one= SSD for everything (cache, OS, apps, projects, etc), but it's not my main w= ork machine and only has one hard drive bay.  Some people replace their= optical drive with an additional hard drive, in which case you could have a= separate SSD for cache space and/or whatever.  If I used the Macbook m= ore for work, I'd probably do that.  I can't remember the last time I a= ctually used the optical drive on this thing.  :)
