The coming thunderbolt version may resolve that. I was recently asked by a client to help them set up a backup system; a wired workstation and a couple of laptops that live on WiFi. I did my research and Drobo was the solution. The FS version supported network B/U through Time Capsule/Time machine; 12 TB of storage and a spare drive to boot! I saw the FS for $399 last week, sans drives. I bought the current version of Drobo S, FW 800-USB 3.0- eSata III, it's self-healing ability to change a failing drive on the fly or replace one with a larger one for more space are its strongest points. I do not get the bandwidth one would expect via USB 3 or eSata give the specs for both. There were lots of external RAIDs around but nothing else was as easily upgradable. Just wondering if the market has changed, and if anything else is comparable to a Drobo, but perhaps faster or better in some other way? I really like the way I can swap drives and mix capacities... -Chris +---End of message---+ To unsubscribe send any message to
