I'm setting up a new workstation from my spare MacPro3,1. I turned down work this year, and have decided to bring in a freelancer to help me rather than do that again.
I have a 16 GB package arriving soon (4 x 4 G sticks). Currently, that machine has 8 GB consisting of 2x2G sticks, and 4 x 1G sticks. (It has 8 slots for a max of 32G.)
Is there any downside to having four matched 4G sticks in the same machine as two 2G sticks and two 1G sticks? I hardly see people listing 22G in their MacPro.
Does it matter? As long as they're all 800 MHz ECC FB-DIMM:R, just different sizes?
TIA,
Jim C.
