I don't think Apple is concerned about losing market share when it comes to the Mac Pro. The company is obviously headed in a different direction. Not making a 17 inch MacBook is another indicator.

If Apple had added those ports and only given a slight proc bump, everyone would be crying that the MacPro is dead. If they released nothing, everyone would be crying the MacPro is dead.
Apple better leak something quick or they're going to lose some market share.
