Barebones can mean a few different setups.  You are probably best to purchase a barebones system with just a case, power supply, motherboard and CPU with cooler installed and that's all.

Ram, HDDs/ SSDs, video cards, network cards if needed, optical drives, etc can all be pretty simple installations and you can save a lot just getting a barebones system and installing compatible parts yourself.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

Also, even more than Mac, buy the barest bone system possible and add your

RAM, additional drives etc. This will not affect warranty or support.

Can you clarify what you mean by bare-bones? Are you saying, just get the motherboard and CPU? And then buy separate ram, graphics card, hard drive, etc etc?
