The only real was that could be true is Apple has changed their mind and has to re-tool and re-figure out the supply chain or some other internal problem. For an active hardware line with a company with deep connection with Intel, releasing updated models is always concurrent with chip and motherboard releases. This is true of every major computer supplier in the world and was true of Apple for many years (remember just a few years ago when they were first out of the gate). Skipping several generations of chips and releasing an update after 3 years makes no sense, really, unless it was a mistake. Because if it will be another 3 years during a refresh, that's still slowly killing a line.
