No problem.

I know getting work and being paid are sometimes the most important thing, but try to never back down from your stance. If they refuse to sign a contract because of that clause, then they have reservations of paying you on time and it probably isn't worth it.

Look at it like a pre-nup agreement, except with no emotional ties to the deal.  I've had a few clients say they are fine with all of the payment and project info we've discussed up front, and they are fine with me sending over a contract, but as soon as I do, they decide to not work with me, or ask about altering that clause.   It's not worth it to me, to be strung along  and not paid on time because of it. I could have been doing work for a good standing client that pays on time during their project.

Also, I suggest using www.echosign.com for all contracts. Gives clients no excuse not to sign. They merely have to click a few times and type their name.

By the way, I need to state this, as I don't want anything bad to happen.

I am not a lawyer and any advice I have given or will give does not constitute for legal advice. If you really want an airtight contract and legal back-up, I would suggest hiring a lawyer.

I'll post up an example contract the list can check out if they need help. I know when I first started, this was a huge issue and I never quite found good contract templates out there that represented our field very well.

Thank you, Greg.

I'm approaching a "slow" client and want to be covered somehow.

I appreciate it.

After reading the absolutely horrifying stories on The World's Longest

to require a contract with new customers.

How many of you are using contracts and do you have an example of one
that pertains directly to motion graphic work?

Thanks in advance.
